Siberian Ginseng

Despite its common name, Siberian Ginseng is not a true ginseng. It is a hardy, thorny shrub from the forests of north-east Asia, often now called by its botanical name, Eleuthero, to avoid confusion.

History and tradition
Siberian Ginseng belongs to the same plant family as Asian and American ginseng (Panax), but to a different genus. It has a long history of use in traditional Chinese practice.
In the mid-20th century, it was one of the plants most closely studied by Soviet researchers, who popularised the term "adaptogen" to describe herbs traditionally used to support the body through physical and mental demands.
In herbal tradition, it has long been associated with stamina and endurance.
